Body found under Singing River Bridge

FLORENCE- (SHOALS INSIDER)-A death investigation has been initiated after a body was found under the Singing River Bridge.

Authorities tell the Shoals Insider some local children found a man’s body near the overlook on the North side of Singing River Bridge, on Friday around 10:30 p.m.

According to Florence Police Chief Ron Tyler, “We do not suspect foul play at this time and believe the man died from natural causes,”

The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of his family members.

Lauderdale County Coroner Andy High tells the Shoals Insider, “We are having difficulty finding any family members of the individual,”

“We’re going to keep trying,” said High.

Emergency workers tell the Shoals Insider the body may be that of a transient.

To determine the exact cause of death, the body has been transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville for an autopsy.
