FLORENCE – Investigators are awaiting the results from an autopsy in the weekend shooting death of a Florence man.

Florence police identified the victim as Jeffery C. Cherry. He was killed in the Saturday morning shooting at a west Florence residence.

Board rejects parole request from inmate

A Lauderdale County man in prison for assaulting another man with a pipe lost his bid for parole recently, authorities said.

The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles rejected the parole request from Roger Keith Thompson, 56, said Terry Abbott, spokesman for the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles.

MAN DIES IN LAUDERDALE HOUSE FIRE

FLORENCE– Several first responders and firefighters are still on the scene of a fatal house fire in Lauderdale County where one man died.

The incident occurred at 3320 Florence Boulevard.

Crews responded to the scene around 8:45 am Monday.

The Lauderdale County Coroner confirms one man died in the blaze.
