Deputy Randall McCrary
FLORENCE–Authorities tell the Shoals Insider, a Lauderdale County Deputy was shot tonight while serving commitment papers on an individual on Ridge Avenue in Florence.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton was on the scene of the shooting and described the incident.
Singleton says when the officer arrived to serve the papers, shots were exchanged.
The deputy has been identified as Randall McCrary. Mccrary has been airlifted to Huntsville Hospital.
The shooter has also been airlifted to the hospital.
Both the shooter and the deputy were reportedly communicating with emergency personnel as they were being taken away to be medflighted to Huntsville Hospital, the nearest trauma center to treat their injuries.
Reportedly, both received two wounds. The deputies were non-life threatening.
