BREAKING: Former youth minister pleads guilty

TUSCUMBIA-(SHOALS INSIDER)-.Former Woodward Avenue Baptist Youth Minister Kyle Adcock pled guilty this morning to sodomy charges in a plea bargain agreement with the state.
Adcock, who appeared to have lost some weight, was arrested in August of 2014 on rape and sodomy charges involving an underage female member of the church, pled to a single count of sodomy 2nd degree.

As part of the plea agreement with prosecutors, Adcock was sentenced to ten years imprisonment split sentence with 15 months confinement.in prison and must register as a sex offender.

Adcock, who is 32 years old, will have to register as a sex offender.

When asked by Judge Hughston if he would like to comment, Adcock declined.

The victim spoke to the court and to Adcock sternly saying, “You have not destroyed me, Our God is powerful and true,”

Speaking directly to Adcock, the victim continued “You are a minister. You will be held to a higher standard,”

“I leave here today with a thankful heart and not in chains,” she said

“I want to thank Colbert County District Attorney Bryce Graham and Assistant DA Angela Hulsey for all their help,”  said the victim. “I will see the goodness of God in the land of the living,”

Adcock pled to a single count of Sodomy 2nd degree. Counts 2-29 of the rape and sodomy charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

Colbert County District Attorney Bryce U. Graham stated, “There were two main reasons we accepted the plea. First,  we did not want to put the victim through the spectacle of a trial, secondly, we wanted to make sure Adcock has to register as a sex offender,”

Adcock’s attorney stated “After his imprisonment, Kyle will be moving to Conway, Arkansas to be near his family,”

Adcock will be transferred from the Colbert County Jail to Kilby Correctional Facility for processing.

Also, as part of the plea agreement, Adcock is to have no contact with the victim or her family.

Judge Hughston warned Adcock the remainder of the suspended sentence could be imposed for bad behavior.
