Florence Police Officer Arrested

NEWS ALERT 🚨 FLORENCE

FPD POLICE OFFICER ARRESTED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Florence police released information on one of their social media accounts concerning the arrest of one of their officers.

The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023, at approximately 7:30pm, where Florence Police Officer Javen Tyrese Pillar, 24, was involved in a domestic incident resulting in his arrest.

Florence police said that upon the realization that one of their own officers was involved, the on-scene supervisor requested the assistance of the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office to respond to the scene and conduct the investigation.

Javen Tyrese Pillar, 24, was arrested for domestic violence 3rd degree by deputies with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation. Lauderdale County Sheriff Joe Hamilton confirmed the arrest to Shoals Insider. The charge is a misdemeanor.

Pillar was hired by the Florence Police Department in 2021. He’s being held in the LCDC on a $5,000 bond. Pillar can make bond after midnight. He’s being held for 24 hours, which is customary for people arrested for domestic violence.

Several readers have written in to Shoals Insider concerning Pillar’s arrest. One reader said he was one of the “nicest and most fair officers I’ve ever dealt with,”

Another reader said, “I’m shocked. This totally goes against his demeanor,”

Pillar is presumed innocent until proven guilty
