Wallace becomes just the second football coach in the 46-year history of the GSC to be honored as coach of the year four times, joining former Jacksonville State coach Jim Fuller.

Wallace’s 2016 Lions were undefeated (7-0) in conference play and boasted the league’s top scoring offense and top scoring defense. The Lions outscored their GSC opponents by an average score of 43-11.

Wallace was previously selected GSC Coach of the Year in 1993, 1994 and 1995, during his first stint as head coach of the Lions. It marks the tenth time that a North Alabama head football coach has been GSC Coach of the Year, with Wallace’s four, three for Wayne Grubb, two for Mark Hudspeth and one for Terry Bowden.
