BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After leading his team to an unprecedented fourth consecutive Gulf South Conference Football Championship, University of North Alabama Head Football Coach Bobby Wallace has been honored as the GSC Coach of the Year for the fourth time.

Wallace becomes just the second football coach in the 46-year history of the GSC to be honored as coach of the year four times, joining former Jacksonville State coach Jim Fuller.

Wallace’s 2016 Lions were undefeated (7-0) in conference play and boasted the league’s top scoring offense and top scoring defense. The Lions outscored their GSC opponents by an average score of 43-11.

Wallace was previously selected GSC Coach of the Year in 1993, 1994 and 1995, during his first stint as head coach of the Lions. It marks the tenth time that a North Alabama head football coach has been GSC Coach of the Year, with Wallace’s four, three for Wayne Grubb, two for Mark Hudspeth and one for Terry Bowden.
