Massey Drugs acquires Northwood Pharmacy adds Pharmacist Tim Connolly to the team

FLORENCE- Massey Drugs Discount Pharmacy and Owner/Pharmacist Matthew Massey, with locations in Florence and Tuscumbia, continues to grow with the acquisition of Northwood Pharmacy in north Florence and by hiring veteran pharmacist Tim Connolly.
Tim Connolly, 1981 Auburn School of Pharmacy graduate, previously with Rite-Aid for the past 33 years, brings his top-notch pharmaceutical care and customer service ethics to Massey Drugs. “Taking care of you is our mission at Massey Drugs,” says Matthew Massey, owner/pharmacist of Massey Drugs. “Tim fits that mold perfectly and he is one of the most genuine and caring people I’ve met in the pharmacy profession. I am thrilled to have him on our team and at our newest Massey Drugs location, Northwood.”

Massey Drugs opened in 2005 after acquiring another local pharmacy and its second location opened in March of last year. “I am extremely pleased to have a second store in Florence and a third location in the Shoals area,” says Massey. “Independent pharmacies, like ours, represent a significant portion of the health care delivery system as we are among the most accessible and trusted sources of health care for our patients. We counsel [patients] on the treatment of a variety of health-related concerns and help to ensure that medicine is taken correctly and consistently. We also refer patients to generic treatment options, when they are available, to help them minimize their costs.”

History of Massey Drugs

Matthew Massey, a graduate of Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy in 2003, acquired his first store in Florence, AL in 2005 from another local pharmacy and named it Massey Drugs Discount Pharmacy. In March of 2015 Massey opened the Tuscumbia, AL location and then acquired a third store on North Wood Avenue in January 2016.

Massey Drugs primarily fills/dispenses prescription medications and non-sterile compounding creams and hormones, and it sales Durable Medical Equipment (DME), primarily nebulizers, and Medela breast pumps and kits.

Over the past decade, it has held steadfast in its mission to serve its neighbors and provide safe, affordable prescription drugs, to minimize wait time, to be customer service oriented and attentive to patient care. Its core belief that there is nothing more important than patient safety has remained steadfast while also finding ways to reinvent itself and to help patients on their path to better health and independent living.
