Lauderdale deputy released from hospital

HUNTSVILLE- Injured Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Deputy Randall McCrary has been released from Huntsville Hospital. McCrary was shot while serving involuntary commitment papers on Timothy Vincent Murphy

McCrary was shot while serving involuntary commitment papers on Timothy Vincent Murphy on Ridge Avenue in Florence.

McCrary was met by members of the media and well-wishers as he left the hospital early Tuesday morning.

He and his family will have a police escort to his home this morning.

Hospital staff tell the Shoals Insider suspect Timothy Murphy is still in Huntsville Hospital recovering. Murphy received two gunshot wounds, as did McCrary.

According to Sheriff Rick Singleton, the other deputies involved in the shooting are on paid leave pending the outcome of an investigation. This is customary in officer-involved shootings.
