TUSCUMBIA–Authorities tell the Shoals Insider a part-time Cherokee police officer has been arrested for felony drug possession and other charges.

Colbert County Sheriff Frank Williamson tells the Shoals Insider 31-year-old Nikki Dale Inman has been arrested for possession of controlled substance, issuing a worthless check, tampering with evidence, and theft of property.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Bureau of Investigations made the arrest after being contacted by Cherokee police that some of the evidence was missing from lockup.

According to Williamson, Inman made  bond Sunday afternoon from the Colbert County Jail with a local bonding company.

“We were going to transfer her to the Lawrence County Detention Center for her safety since she has worked extensively in local law enforcement,” said Williamson.

“But she made bail and that was not necessary,” Williamson added.

Ms. Inman in years past has worked as a Sheffield police officer as well as a Colbert Sheriff’s deputy.

Inman was released on $3,800 bail. Authorities say there may be more charges pending.
