FLORENCE-(SHOALS INSIDER)-Authorities tell the Shoals Insider, local police had to call in the help of the US Marshall’s Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force to capture a former maintenance man for Heritage Christian University, who police say burglarized the school and some of the vehicles parked at the school.

Florence Police Investigator Scott Perkins said 42-year-old, Christopher Wayne Kilpatrick, of Florence, was apprehended in Birmingham by US Marshalls after police discovered his whereabouts.

Kilpatrick was driving an automobile he had stolen from Waldridge Sreet in Florence.

Police say on the night of February 11th,  Kilpatrick broke into the school’s office and stole some credit cards. Reports indicate Kilpatrick also broke into two other cars in the Forest Hills Subdivision.

Kilpatrick is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center without bail.  He is currently charged with third-degree burglary, illegal possession of a credit card, first-degree theft of property, fourth-degree theft of property, and three counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle.

Police say they are seeing a trend where people are leaving their keys in their cars as well as purses and other valuable items which make them an easy target.
