FLORENCE – Investigators are awaiting the results from an autopsy in the weekend shooting death of a Florence man.

Florence police identified the victim as Jeffery C. Cherry. He was killed in the Saturday morning shooting at a west Florence residence.

Police have charged Derrick D. Turnley, 42, Florence, with murder, police Sgt. Greg Cobb said.

“We are still working to locate witnesses and to speak with them,” Cobb said. “We are not looking for any other suspect in this case.”

The shooting occurred at 2 a.m. at a residence in the 500 block of Long Lane, police said.

Cobb said police responded to a 911 call at the residence and found Cherry had been shot. Florence Fire Rescue and Shoals ambulance workers determined he had died at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Kevin Jackson at 256-760-6557 or text a tip to 274637 using the keyword FPDTIP, plus the message, Cobb said.

Cherry’s body was taken to the state forensics lab in Huntsville for an autopsy, but Cobb said it may be late next week before results are available due to the holiday season.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office is still working the crime scene and investigating a homicide in the northern part of the Lauderdale county.

The incident occurred on the 2800 block of County Road 130.

Police say the call came in around 8:30 a.m. regarding a domestic situation.

Peggy Sue Hall, 54, Bobo’s ex-wife, has been charged with Capital murder.

Hall is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center.

According to police, William Butler, 69, of 122 Blair Street was arrested on the scene of the incident that left one man dead.

FLORENCE–Police have arrested a Florence man for murder in the last night shooting death of a man on Blair Street.

According to police, William Butler, 69, of 122 Blair Street was arrested on the scene of the incident that left one man dead.

Florence Fire Department and Shoals Ambulance arrived and started medical treatment.

The fatally injured man died en route to the hospital.

Police took William Butler into custody.

Butler was transported to the Florence Police Department, where he was arrested for Murder.

Detectives worked the scene and collected evidence and talked with witnesses in the area.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time pending notification of family members.

NITRATE CITY-Authorities in Colbert County have identified the stabbing victim found Thursday afternoon along Bainbridge Loop near Nitrate City.

Colbert County Coroner Justin Gasque has identified the stabbing victim as John Edward Johnson, 69, of Bainbridge Loop.

People in the community affectionately called him “Johnny Reb”.  “He lost his daughter Amy a few years ago, this is so sad, for this family,” said one neighbor.

Colbert County Sheriff Frank Williamson tells the Shoals Insider Johnson was found in his home, where he received multiple stab wounds.

“We haven’t made any arrests and we don’t have any people of interests at this time,” said Williamson.

“From all outward appearances, it seems to have been a robbery,” Williamson continued.

The body has been taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville for an autopsy.

Sheriff Williamson is asking the public for help. “If anyone knows who committed this murder or if anyone has any information that would help, please call and let us know,”

On June 26th, 2016 at 2:46 pm the Morgan County E911 Center received a call from 2907 Lennox Drive Southwest, Decatur. Officers were dispatched to the residence to check the welfare of the family inside.
At the residence, Officers made contact with Michelle Lee Owens as well as a male juvenile.

During the course of the welfare check, Officers located the deceased body of Lawrence Edward Owens II inside the home. Lawrence appeared to have at least one gunshot wound to his person.

Detectives with the Decatur Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, as well as Crime Scene Technicians, the Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn, and Morgan County District Attorney Scott Anderson responded to the scene to begin an investigation into the Lawrence’s death.

During the course of the investigation it was determined that Lawrence had been shot by his wife, Michelle Lee Owens. Michelle was brought to the Decatur Police Department where she was charged with Murder.

Michelle was booked into the Decatur City Jail and will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail at a later time. Her bond has not been set at the time of this release.

The man held for questioning in the death of Wanda Ivey (Wallace) has been formally charged with murder.

Timothy Warhurst, of Blue Road in Tuscumbia, is being held on a bond of $1 million dollars at the Colbert County jail.

Officials say Warhurst shot Ivey at his residence on Blue Road Sunday night. He was caught red handed digging a grave by police in Walker County. Ivey’s body was found in the back of Warhurst’s truck at that time. She died of two gunshot wounds.

After being held for questioning Monday Warhurst was charged officially charged with murder on Tuesday afternoon. He is not expected to be able to afford the one million bail that has been set.

The woman who was murdered in in Colbert County has been identified by the Colbert County Sheriff.

The Woman’s name is Wanda Ivey, 47. She was killed at her home on Blue Road in Tuscumbia, AL on Sunday.
The Sheriff’s department has a man in custody, Timothy Warhurst. No charges have been filed but he is being questioned.
Neighbors of Ivey heard a gunshot around 1:00 pm on Sunday.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s department, Madison police and New Hope police found a man digging a grave near Paint Rock River. Ivey’s body was found in the back of Warhurst’s truck. Officials say Warhurst was caught with the shovel in his hand on County Road 500 in Woodville.

Colbert County officials say they have a man in custody who is suspected of murder.

The victim is a female in her 40’s. She was killed over the weekend. Her identity is unkown. The Colbert County Sheriff has not released any further details.

Two men charged with brutal murders have been named to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, with rewards of up to $100,000 being offered in each case.

Philip Patrick Policarpio is wanted for the murder of his pregnant girlfriend in Los Angeles on April 12, 2016. At the time of the killing, Policarpio was on parole for a conviction in 2001.

Also added to the Top Ten list is Luis Macedo, a Latin Kings street gang member from Chicago wanted for the murder of a 15-year-old boy in 2009. Macedo led a group of gang members who beat the victim with a baseball bat, shot him, and then set his body on fire.

Twenty-one years old when the murder occurred, Macedo had already been an active gang member since he was a young teen and was in charge of the street crew that set upon the 15-year-old, who was not a rival gang member but was in the neighborhood visiting his girlfriend.

“The murder was classic mob mentality,” said Patrick Johnson, a Chicago Police Department detective who is a member of the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force in Chicago and who has been working to locate Macedo.

In the weeks after the killing, Macedo and four of his accomplices were identified. The other four gang members were arrested and were either convicted at trial or pleaded guilty to the crime and are serving prison sentences. Macedo remains a fugitive.

“Over the years, we’ve had unconfirmed reports about him being in Florida and possibly in Mexico,” Johnson said. “He also has family in Wisconsin and Indiana, but the trail has gone cold. We are hoping this substantial reward announced today will bring someone forward.”

Special Agent Scott Garriola, a member of the FBI’s Los Angeles Fugitives Task Force who has investigated numerous Top Ten cases, believes the reward—up to $100,000 for information leading directly to an arrest—may also play a significant role in the Philip Patrick Policarpio case. “The money can be a strong motivating factor,” he said, “and why would anyone want to protect him, considering what he did.”

At a gathering of friends and associates, Policarpio got into an argument with his girlfriend who was 17 weeks pregnant. “In front of everyone,” Garriola said, he began to beat her with his fists, then pulled a gun and shot her in the head, killing her instantly.

A known drug user, Policarpio fled and may have traveled to Las Vegas or possibly the Philippines, where he has family ties. “His pattern is one of violence,” said Garriola, “and he is always armed. He is the definition of a continuing threat to the community.”

FLORENCE,AL:  At approximately 2:50 am on May 1^st, 2016, Florence Police officers responded to Alpine Village Apartments on the report that a person had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers located Eric Lee Moore, a 33 year old white male from Florence, inside apartment 1218-A on the floor with multiple stab wounds.  Moore was immediately transported by ambulance to ECM hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.  Bradley Ray Greenhill, a 22 year old white male, was identified as a person of interest.  Greenhill and Moore had previously been roommates together.  Greenhill was transported to police headquarters and after speaking with detectives has been charged with Murder for the stabbing death of Eric Moore.
