BRICK HATTON COMMUNITY – (SHOALS INSIDER)- Authorities have released more details on a story that Shoals Insider was first to bring you. State Troopers have released the name of the driver of the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado truck involved in the crash that claimed the life of a Muscle Shoals man, early Saturday afternoon.

Troopers say 26-year-old Tyler A. Hartman of Rogersville was operating the Chevy truck when he collided with Frank Hugh Bowling, 83, on River Road, near Stanfield’s Steakhouse. The accident occurred approximately six miles east of Muscle Shoals.

Colbert County Coroner Carlton Utley tells the Shoals Insider, Mr. Bowling died from head trauma he sustained in the crash.

Mr. Bowling was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:40 pm.

First responders and Troopers say the collision was an accident and Hartman was not at fault, as the collision was unavoidable.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bowling family.  Those who knew Mr. Bowling say he was a kind and gentle man, who will be greatly missed.

COLBERT COUNTY-(SHOALS INSIDER)- Authorities tell the Shoals Insider, a Muscle Shoals man was killed near his home this afternoon when the Cub Cadet UTV he was operating collided with a truck.

Colbert County Coroner Carlton Utley identified the deceased as Franklin Hugh Bowling, 83, of 7070 River Road, Muscle Shoals. People in the community tell us Mr. Bowling did landscape work for several years.

The accident, which occurred around 1:00 pm Saturday had traffic blocked for over one-quarter of a mile.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

Mr. Bowling was not wearing a helmet. The UTV, Mr. Bowling was operating, was a two-seater Cub Cadet.

The collision happened at 7180 River Road.

Alabama State Troopers will continue to investigate the incident.
