MOTORCYCLE CRASH CLAIMS LIFE OF ROGERSVILLE MAN

A multi-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 9:35 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, has claimed the life of a Rogersville man.

Jessie J. Mabe, 29, was fatally injured when the 2007 Suzuki GSX R-600 motorcycle he was operating left the roadway and struck a signpost. Mabe was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lauderdale County Coroner’s office.

Prior to leaving the roadway and striking the signpost, the Suzuki that Mabe was operating struck a 2006 Honda CBR-600 motorcycle operated by Hannah S. Mabe, 30, of Rogersville and a 2009 Honda CBR-900 motorcycle operated by Adam K. Russell, 34, of Pulaski, Tenn. Hannah S. Mabe and Russell were both injured and transported to North Alabama Medical Center in Florence.

The crash occurred on Alabama 207 near the 11 mile marker, approximately three miles north of Anderson, in Lauderdale County.

State Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the crash.

TWO DIE IN LAUDERDALE CRASH

CLOVERDALE– A one-vehicle crash around 11 am on Saturday, December 19, has claimed the life of two Florence residents.

According to Corporal James Howard of the Quad Cities Trooper Post, Mary Montgomery Smith, a 53-year-old female, was driving a 2016 Toyota Prius that left the roadway and struck a tree. Smith was taken to NAMC in Florence and pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

The front seat passenger, Gaius Wayne Crakaal, 49, of Florence, was flown by helicopter to Athens Hospital and pronounced deceased by hospital staff. The back-seat passenger, Austin Smith, 15, was flown to Nashville for treatment of serious injuries.
The crash occurred on County Road 11 in the Cloverdale Community of Lauderdale County, approximately 8 miles north of Florence, Alabama. None of the victims in the crash were wearing seatbelts. State Troopers continue to investigate the crash.

KILLEN WOMAN DIES IN CRASH

LAUDERDALE COUNTY– A two-vehicle crash at approximately 3:39 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, has claimed the life of a Killen woman and injured three others.

According to Senior Trooper Greg Corble of the Quad Cities Post in Sheffield, Connie T. Parker, 66, of Killen was killed when the 2006 Ford Taurus she was operating failed to yield the right away to a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox.

Parker was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the 2006 Ford Taurus was transported by air to a hospital for treatment. Two other injuries occurred in the 2016 Chevrolet, one was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and one was transported by air to a hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred on U.S. 43 at the intersection of Alabama 64, approximately 3.5 miles south of Greenhill. State Troopers continue to investigate.

Man dies after crashing into Cypress Creek

FLORENCE – A one-vehicle crash at 1:41 a.m. today, June 6, 2020, has claimed the life of a resident of Spring Hill, Tennessee. Joe Dewayne Cothrum, a 35-year-old, was killed when the 2011 Nissan Altima, being driven by 21-year-old Zachary John Madden of Brilliant, AL, left the roadway, continued travelling on private property and crashed into Cypress Creek.

Cothrum and Madden were being pursued by police.

Cothrum was pronounced dead at the scene by Lauderdale County Coroner Butch Tucker.

The crash occurred in the City of Florence, just west of the intersection of Mobile and College Street.

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.

1 DEAD IN LAUDERDALE CRASH

LAUDERDALE COUNTY– A 17-year0old girl has been killed in a two-vehicle crash in rural Lauderdale County.

Authorities tell ShoalsInsider.com the crash occurred around 7:30 am Tuesday at the intersection of Lauderdale County Roads 25 and 144.

The name of the deceased, a 17-year-old girl, has yet to be released pending family notification. She is reportedly a student at Rogers High School.

Troopers continue to investigate the crash.

ROGERSVILLE WOMAN KILLED IN CRASH

A single-vehicle crash on Tuesday, July 9, in Limestone County has claimed one life and injured two others.

Carla R. Swan, 33, of Rogersville was killed when the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, in which she was a passenger, left the roadway and struck several trees.

Swan, who was not using a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Driver of the Jeep and a second passenger were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The crash occurred at 1 a.m. on U.S. 72 at the 61 mile marker 11 miles west of Athens.

Troopers continue to investigate.

1 DEAD, 1 INJURED IN FLORENCE CRASH

FLORENCE- Police and emergency personnel responded to a fatal crash on Gresham Road, near the intersection of Seville Street, on Saturday.

Florence Police tell ShoalsInsider.com both drivers were transported to North Alabama Medical Center where one of the drivers died as a result of their injuries.

The victim’s names have yet to be released pending family notification.

Police continue to investigate the crash.

Tuscumbia man killed in early morning crash

MUSCLE SHOALS– A two-vehicle crash at 6:25 am Monday, September 24, 2018, has claimed the life of a Tuscumbia man.

Troopers tell ShoalsInsider.com, Claude L. Berry, 80, was killed when the 2003 Ford Ranger he was driving crossed in front of a commercial vehicle at the intersection of Gargis Lane and Alabama 20.

The Ranger pickup was struck on the drivers’ side and Berry was ejected from the vehicle after impact.

Berry was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Berry was transported to Heller Keller Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

State Troopers continue to investigate.

Florence man dies in crash

MOULTON–A Florence man was killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash.

According to State Troopers, at around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Nicholas Ryan Parker, 35, was killed when the 2003 Ford Ranger he was traveling in ran off the roadway and overturned.

Parker was pronounced dead at the scene. He was employed at Loaves and Fishes Food Distribution Center.

The crash occurred on AL-157 near the intersection of AL-36 in Lawrence County, 5 miles South of Moulton, AL.

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.

Leighton man dies in Sunday crash

MUSCLE SHOALS – A one vehicle crash at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, December 17, 2017, has claimed the life of a Leighton man.

According to State Troopers, Kevin James Stringer, 20, was killed when the 2009 Pontiac G8 he was driving ran off the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned.

Stringer was pronounced dead at the scene. Stringer was not wearing his seatbelt. The crash occurred on Colbert County Road 61, three miles east of Muscle Shoals.

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
