ESCAPED INMATE APPREHENDED WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF ESCAPE

FLORENCE– An escaped inmate from the Lauderdale County Detention Center was captured within ten minutes of his escape.

This morning shortly before 10:00 A.M. members of Florence Police Department, Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department, and UNA Police Department responded to the Lauderdale County Detention Center to the report of an escaped inmate.

Officers quickly set up a perimeter around the jail.

Within 10 minutes of the escape, the inmate, Gary Tingle, was captured by Officer Lambert, Officer Woods, and his K9 partner “OZ.”

Female inmate escapes Tuscumbia jail

TUSCUMBIA– Authorities are searching for an escaped female prisoner that fled the facilities late Saturday afternoon.

Tuscumbia police tell ShoalsInsider.com that 41-year-old Rachel Bertina White, of 76 Faires Drive, Killen, escaped from the police department around 5:15 pm on Saturday.

According to courthouse records, White has an extensive criminal history in Colbert and Lauderdale counties.

In 2018, White pled guilty to promoting prison contraband in Lauderdale County. She reportedly brought the narcotic Suboxone into the detention center.

In 2014, White pled guilty in Colbert County to Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance, where she was reportedly manufacturing methamphetamine out of the precursor pseudoephedrine.

In 2009, White was arrested for possession of marijuana and receiving stolen property in Mobile, Alabama.

Authorities still searching for escaped inmate

William Anthony Taylor Jr.

SHEFFIELD– Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for an escaped inmate from the Sheffield City Jail.

Authorities tell ShoalsInsider.com, William Anthony Taylor Jr. escaped custody at approximately 8:30 Tuesday night. Taylor reportedly pushed his way passed the jailer as he opened the cell door and fled on foot.

Taylor was in jail on multiple charges: 1) Possession Marijuana 2nd 2) Possession Drug Paraphernalia
3) Resisting Arrest 4) Attempting to Elude.

According to police, Taylor has a history of theft and also has current traffic warrants that he is wanted for.

Taylor is described as a white male, approximately 150 lbs and 5′ 6″ tall, wearing a dark colored tank top and unknown pants or shorts.

Taylor was last seen heading westbound on foot from Sheffield Police Department. His last known address was on 28th Street in Sheffield.

Taylor was being held on misdemeanor charges. He now faces a class A Felony charge of Escape 1st degree.

Tuscumbia escapee caught in Decatur

DECATUR–An escapee from the Tuscumbia City Jail has been captured in Morgan County. Authorities tell ShoalsInsider.com around 8:30 pm on Thursday officers with the Decatur police department were dispatched to Moulton Street where Justin Tyler Whitman was apprehended after a short foot chase.

Whitman reportedly gave a false name and was in possession of marijuana and methamphetamine. Whitman is being held on $2,500 bail and is awaiting extradition back to Colbert County. Whitman and another inmate escaped from Tuscumbia on May 1st.

Authorities search for escaped inmate

Christopher Wayne Kilpatrick

FLORENCE–Authorities are actively searching for an escaped inmate.

Around 9:22p last night Christopher Wayne Kilpatrick, W/M, 43, escaped from the Lauderdale County Detention Center. Kilpatrick was being held without bond and was awaiting trial for the attempted murder of a Florence Police Officer. Kilpatrick was last seen fleeing south along Seminary Street from the detention center. Kilpatrick should be considered armed and dangerous. Kilpatrick is 6-00 tall and weighs approx. 160 lbs. Anyone who comes into contact with him should notify local police immediately by calling 911. The Florence Police Department and ALEA are assisting the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office on this escapee.
