<p>FLORENCE&#8211; Police officers made an arrest early Sunday morning after receiving a domestic violence call.<br>According to Florence police, at around 5:13 Sunday morning, officers responded to 745 Meridian Street Apartments, to a domestic call involving a knife.</p>

<p><br>Officers located a man who had been stabbed in the arm.<br>He was transported to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.<br>After an investigation, Katie Ann Fitch, 31, was arrested for Domestic Violence Assault in the second degree.<br>Both Fitch and the victim have reportedly been in a dating relationship for many years.<br>The victim’s injuries were serious. Fitch was incarcerated on a $30,000 bond which has been revoked since she was out on bond for a previous domestic assault that occurred back on June 19th of this year. She is being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center.</p>

<p>FLORENCE – Police have charged a domestic violence suspect with disarming a law enforcement officer after the man removed an officer’s baton and tried to attack him with it, authorities said.<br></p>



<p>The incident occurred while Dalton B. Coyer, 30, was being arrested by an officer who responded to a domestic violence call, police Capt. Brad Holmes said.<br></p>

<p>The incident happened early Sunday morning outside of a South Franklin Street residence, Holmes said.<br>“Officers responded to a domestic call and attempted to take Mr. Coyer into custody,” he said. “He struck one of the police officers in the face and began a physical altercation. During the altercation, he was able to remove an extendable baton from the officer’s duty gear.”<br>Coyer attempted to strike the officer with it but the officer blocked it, Holmes said. Disarming an officer is a felony.<br>Coyer also faces two counts of third-degree domestic violence and one count each of reckless endangerment, coercion through harassment/intimidation, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental operations, police said.<br>Coyer remains in the Lauderdale County Detention Center and no bail has been set, according to a detention center spokeswoman.</p>

<p>FLORENCE&#8211;Authorities have arrested a Florence man after a domestic incident that occurred early Tuesday morning.<span id="more-10069"></span><br />
Around 4 am Tuesday police responded to a domestic dispute in North Florence. When Officers arrived the victim advised that her ex-boyfriend, Dewayne Moore, 22, came to her residence and took her vehicle. When she came out to confront him he attempted to run her over with the vehicle. Officers that were responding to the scene located the vehicle and attempted to stop it. Mr. Moore refused to stop and ran from the pursuing units. Mr. Moore then abandons the vehicle and fled on foot. While searching the area Officers found Moore when he returned to the victim&#8217;s residence. Mr. Moore was then arrested for Resisting Arrest, Criminal Trespassing, and 2 counts of Domestic Violence 3rd. He is currently in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $4,000.00 bond and 24 hours hold.</p>

<p>FLORENCE&#8211;Jasmine Rowell, 32, of Florence was arrested yesterday and charged with Domestic Violence Assault 2nd. The case stems from a domestic incident that took place on South Richards St in East Florence. At 12:15pm on 8/6/17 officers responded to S Richards St to an assault call. When officers arrived the victim had already gone to the hospital and Rowell had left and returned to her home on Holt Ave in North Florence. Officers responded to both locations to talk to both parties.<span id="more-9966"></span></p>
<p>After both statements were taken and evidence located it was determined that Rowell was the primary aggressor in this incident. The victim was treated for a knife wound and released from ECM hospital. Rowell is currently in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $5,000.00 bond..</p>

<p>Late Tuesday evening, shortly before midnight, officers responded to a 911 call in the 200 block of Madison Ave. Upon arrival, officers met a female who appeared shaken. Mr. Long was also present at the residence. While attempting to determine the nature of the 911 call it was found that Mr. Long and the female had been in a domestic incident, during which Mr. Long is accused of strangling the female and taking her phone to prevent her from contacting police for help. Mr. Long was taken into custody after becoming disorderly and resisting his lawful arrest. He was transported to the LCDC without incident and charged with Domestic Violence Strangulation, Interference with an Emergency Call, Domestic Violence 3rd, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest. He is currently being held on bond totaling $9,000.00.</p>

<p>A north Alabama center that assists child abuse victims in six counties will continue to provide services with the help of a $291,800 grant awarded by Gov. Robert Bentley.<span id="more-7776"></span></p>
<p>Funds will help Cramer Children’s Center, also known as the Child Advocacy Center, provide free assistance to victims and their families. The center offers services to help mend mental and physical scars for abuse victims Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Marion and Winston counties while helping to prosecute offenders.</p>
<p>“Child victims and their families face a tremendous ordeal when trying to overcome abusive situations,” Bentley said. “I commend the staff and volunteers at Cramer Children’s Center for caring about these victims and providing these needed services.”</p>
<p>Cramer Children’s Center responds with the first report of abuse and remains with families throughout the healing process and the entire judicial procedure to prosecute offenders. The center ensures that victims who are forced to escape abusive situations have adequate housing, food and clothing.</p>
<p>The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Justice Department.</p>
<p>“ADECA’s local partnerships with organizations like Cramer Children’s Center ensures that victims are not alone in their ordeal and their struggle to overcome these adversities,” ADECA Director Jim Byard Jr. said.</p>
<p>ADECA administers an array of programs supporting law enforcement and traffic safety, economic development, energy conservation, workforce development, water resource management and recreation development.</p>

<div><span style="font-family: Calibri;">A federal jury in April convicted RONNIE CHRISTOPHER RICKS, 46, on one count of interstate domestic violence for coming into the U.S. government’s special territorial jurisdiction of Redstone Arsenal and striking his former girlfriend with his fists on Aug. 5, 2015. U.S. District Judge Madeline H. Haikala sentenced him to the five months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release. Ricks already is in custody.</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Calibri;">According to government documents, the assault occurred as follows:</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Ricks’ former girlfriend was a U.S. Army non-commissioned officer living on Redstone Arsenal last year. On <span class="aBn" tabindex="0" data-term="goog_1757006231"><span class="aQJ">Aug. 5</span></span>, Ricks showed up at her residence as an Army officer arrived to pick up his daughter, who Ricks’ victim was babysitting. Ricks began cursing and swung a fist at the officer. When Ricks former girlfriend stepped between the two men, Ricks threw her to the ground, struck her in the face with his fists and dragged her along the ground.</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The Redstone Arsenal Police investigated the case, which Assistant U.S. Attorney David Estes is prosecuting.</span></div>

Police in Russellville say Joel Andres-Lopez stabbed his wife 21 times and his son once in the throat.</p>
<p><span id="more-6082"></span><br />
The attack happened on St. Clair St. Police were on a domestic violence call. When they arrived they found the mother and son had been stabbed many times.</p>
<p>The victims were taken to the hospital, treated and released.</p>
<p>Joel Andres-Lopez, 36, ran away before police arrived but later turned himself in.</p>
<p>Allegedly Lopez attacked his wife and his teenage son tried to stop him. That&#8217;s when police say Lopez stabbed him in the neck.</p>
<p>He has been charged with attempted murder, domestic violence and first degree assault. He is being held on $500,000 bond.</p>

<p>BIRMINGHAM – A federal grand jury today indicted a Florence man on interstate domestic violence and stalking charges for assaulting and sending threatening phone messages to a former girlfriend living on Redstone Arsenal, announced U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance.<span id="more-1646"></span></p>
<p>An indictment filed in U.S. District Court charges RONNIE CHRISTOPHER RICKS, 46, with one count of interstate domestic violence for coming into the U.S. government’s special territorial jurisdiction of Redstone Arsenal and striking his former girlfriend with his fists on Aug. 5. The indictment also charges Ricks with interstate stalking for using an electronic communication system of interstate commerce, a cellular telephone, in order to harass or intimidate the woman and cause, or attempt to cause her substantial emotional distress.</p>
<p>The maximum penalty for each count is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.</p>
<p>The Redstone Arsenal Police investigated the case, which Assistant U.S. Attorney David Estes is prosecuting.</p>
<p>An indictment contains only charges. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.</p>

<p>On 12/17/2015 at approximately 8 pm, the Florence Police Department, with assistance from several FPD SWAT team members, responded to the area of Huntsville Road and Baldwin in order to execute an arrest warrant resulting from a domestic situation that had just occurred. Based on particular information provided to the police department, extra precautionary measures were taken when executing this arrest warrant to protect both the suspect and the community. After a short time, Israel Porfil Soto, 29, was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Violence Menacing 3rd without incident.</p>
<p>**All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty**</p>
