<p>On Sunday, Florence police officers responded to an animal welfare check at the bridge near the 300 block of Minniehaha Street. A witness stated he heard an animal that sounded like it was in distress.</p>

<p>The complainant witnessed the offender physically abusing a dog. When officers arrived, they located a small white dog deceased in the creek. The witness described the suspect, and Officers began a search <a></a>of the surrounding area. Officers located Kevin Bruce, 33, nearby.</p>



<p>Bruce was interviewed and subsequently arrested and charged with Aggravated Animal Abuse.</p>



<p>Bruce is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.</p>

<p>The District Attorney&#8217;s office announced on Monday that a Colbert County Grand Jury has indicted Debra Jane Catledge for multiple felonies and misdemeanors related to a long-term investigation involving dogs and horses on her property.</p>

<p>“Through a careful and strategic investigation through the District Attorney&#8217;s Office, we were able to obtain felony indictments based on the varying health conditions of the multiple animals in this case,” said Colbert County District Attorney Hal Hughston.</p>



<p>“We would like to thank the Colbert County Sheriff&#8217;s Department and Dr. Sonya Gray for their work in this investigation,” said Hughston.</p>



<p>Catledge’s charges have been upgraded and she is now facing felony and misdemeanor charges. They will be heard in Colbert County Circuit Court.</p>



<p>Catledge stands charged with 25 felony counts of 1st degree cruelty to dogs, 9 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, and 6 counts of failure to bury dead animals. This according to the Colbert County Sheriff’s Department.</p>



<p>Catledge will now have to make bond on the new charges. She’s being held in the Colbert County Jail on an $80,000 bond.</p>

<p>The 66-year-old man was released on a $30,000 bond.<br>Nance&#8217;s charges include a felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals, according to court records. That is connected to the death of two cows found on Nance’s property. </p>



<p>The other five are misdemeanors, including two counts of failure to burn or bury livestock and three counts of cruelty to animals.</p>

<p>COLBERT COUNTY- A man has been arrested for animal cruelty after fatally shooting a neighbor&#8217;s golden retriever in Eastern Colbert County on Spout Spring&#8217;s Road.</p>



<p>According to police, 31-year-old Justin Aaron Demastus of 1505 Spout Springs Road, Muscle Shoals, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty after he reportedly shot his neighbor&#8217;s golden retriever in the chest around 5 am on October 7th.</p>

<p>The dog&#8217;s owner reportedly heard the early morning gunshot and a dog crying.  The owner immediately started looking for the dog and located the deceased dog in her front yard.</p>



<p>According to the report, Demastus told police that he told the dog to go home multiple times but he refused. Demastus said he then took out his 9mm Sig and shot the dog one time in the chest.</p>



<p>Demastus was released from jail on a $300 property bond. </p>



<p>A court date has yet to be set in the matter,</p>
