DOUBLE SPRINGS –A day of rest and relaxation turned tragic for a Hartselle family.
Authorities tell the Shoals Insider, a swimming incident on Lewis Smith Lake Saturday, April 16 has claimed the life of a Hartselle teen.
According to police, Carmen Elizabeth Johnson, 15, drowned while swimming with family off a boat dock at a residence near Double Springs in Winston County.
Johnson was pulled from the water by divers at approximately 2:45 pm and pronounced dead.
ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division continue to investigate.
