WATERLOO-(SHOALS INSIDER)–Authorities tell the Insider the body of a missing swimmer has been located.
EMA officials say this morning they retrieved the body of a 36-year-old man who went missing around noon on Labor Day after he swam under a pontoon boat and never resurfaced.
Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) identified the man as Nicolas Jeremy Smith, of Memphis.
Officials say the body was located around 9:00 am Wednesday, about one-half of a mile from the initial search site.
The Lauderdale county coroner took possession of the body after it was located.
Rescue crews from Mississippi and Tennessee assisted in the search effort.
