RED BAY-A Red Bay school teacher has been arrested on charges of public intoxication and possession of prohibited liquor while she was working her second job.
According to authorities, 38-year-old Shanna Diane Ozbirn was arrested at the Red Bay city council meeting on Tuesday night.
Ozbirn works as a freelance writer. Authorities say Ozbirn appeared to be under the influence.
Sources familiar with the situation say Ozbirn checked into a rehab on Wednesday.
Ozbirn also serves on the Parks & Recreation Board.
It is unknown if Ozbirn will face any disciplinary action from the Franklin County School Board.
Ozbirn teaches 5th and 6th grade. School officials tell the Shoals Insider a substitute will take over her classes.
