K Phillips New Album “DIRTY WONDER” To Be Released this fall

FLORENCE-K Phillips, hot off the national summer tour with the Counting Crows and Rob Thomas, will perform his own show at the 116 East Mobile venue in Florence on Saturday, October 1st. On his forthcoming album “Dirty Wonder,” K Phillips displays a compelling combination of Tom Waits’ lyrical wit and Keith Richards’ slinky country-rock hooks. Songs like “18 Year Old Girls” and “Had Enough” make it clear why the heretofore unknown artist and his 6-piece band were invited to join the Counting Crows and Rob Thomas on their 2016 summer tour.
Phillips tells the Shoals Insider, “A few years ago a friend of mine introduced me to the guys behind the Outlaw Roadshow-Ryan Spaulding and Adam Duritz. I’ve gone to New York to play the show a few times and it’s like we’re all a big family that gets together for badass rock shows instead of holidays. Then I got a call from Adam asking if I wanted to join them on tour this summer. I didn’t have to think about it very long.”

K Phillips was born in West Texas and raised by his grandparents in the Concho Valley. He started playing guitar and writing songs at age 5 and began playing organ and piano in bar bands at age 14. His forthcoming album is a personal journal dictated by a man who travels through life looking at everything through his camera lens. The songs are everyday philosophical observances of a lyrical savant; bold statements, keen insights and sultry whispers that reach down into the subconscious mind. K calls his new album the “greatest breakup album ever written” and the album’s first single “Hadrian” features backup vocals from Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz. Motivated by gospel, R&B and country blues, the sound is a trip across a nostalgic landscape with K in the driver’s seat, and you realize that you are just along for the ride. “Dirty Wonder” is slated for release in the fall of 2016.
The fall will also see K Phillips featured in the new J Crew “Locals Only” Fall 2016 Catalogue sporting his unique sense of style.
