ANIMAL CRUELTY SUSPECT ARRESTED ON MORE CHARGES
A Barton woman arrested on Sunday for multiple counts of animal cruelty was re-arrested on Tuesday evening. According to Colbert county sheriff Eric Balentine, Debra Jane Catledge, 63, of 13330 US Hwy 72 in Barton, was rearrested around 7:30 pm for failing to burn or bury dead animals.
The new charges come from an investigation by state authorities. Over the weekend, animal control workers confiscated dozens of horses and dogs suffering from malnutrition. 28 dead horses were found on the property where Catledge lived.
