MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. — Northwest-Shoals Community College (NW-SCC) will host the SkillsUSA Northwest Alabama District competition on the Shoals campus for approximately 350 high school students Friday, March 18, 2016, beginning at 9 a.m.
Students will compete in 27 Career Technical and Leadership contests. Career technical competitions include: Architectural Drafting, Technical Drafting, Carpentry, Electrical Wiring, Electronics, Welding and Automotive Service/Diesel Equipment.
The Northwest District consists of the following schools: Aliceville High School, Allen Thornton Career Technical Center, Bessemer Center For Technology, Bessemer City High School, Bibb County Career Academy, Center Point High School, Central High School-Florence, Deshler High School, Echols Middle School, Erwin Middle School, Fairfield High Preparatory School, Florence High School, Franklin County Career Technical Center, Gardendale High School, George Washington Carver High School, Haleyville Center Of Technology, Hewitt-Trussville High School, Holt High School, Hoover High School, Hueytown High School, Huffman High School-Magnet, Jackson-Olin High School, Lamar County School Of Technology, Lawrence County Center Technology, Limestone County Area Vocational Technology, Mcadory High School, Midfield High School, Minor High School, Muscle Shoals Career Academy, Parker High School, Pickens County High School, Russellville High School, Shades Valley High School, Thompson High School, Tuscaloosa Center for Technology, Vestavia Hills High School, Walker County Center of Technology, Wenonah High School, Winfield High School, Winston County Technical Center and Woodlawn High School-Magnet.
The top four winners in each category advance to the state competition April 19-21 in Birmingham.
