<p>On Friday, Detectives with the Sheffield Police Department received information from the Vernal City Police Department in Utah regarding a male identified as Damien Zachary Marshall who held warrants for 2 counts of sodomy on a child as well as a count for sexual abuse of a child.</p>



<p>Upon attaining copies of the warrants for Marshall as well as an address in Sheffield Police/Investigations made contact with Marshall at a residence on the 600 block of Broadway Street.</p>



<p>Marshall was taken into custody and is currently at the Sheffield City jail awaiting extradition to Utah.</p>

<p>A former Sheffield resident pleaded guilty Thursday in Colbert County Circuit Court to two sexual abuse charges in exchange for a 24-month prison sentence.</p>



<p>According to court records, John Thomas Sledge, 70, of 385 Jones Road in Russellville, pleaded guilty to sexual abuse in the first and second degrees with the sentence to run concurrently.</p>

<p>The indictment stated Sledge did subject someone less than 12 years of age to sexual contact and the second indictment stated Sledge subjected someone older than 12 years of age to sexual contact.</p>



<p>As part of the plea agreement, the court will recommend to the Alabama Department of Corrections that Sledge be evaluated for the Aged and Infirmed prison in Hamilton, Alabama. Sledge will have a three year suspended sentence upon release from the penitentiary. He began his prison sentence on Thursday.</p>



<p>According to courthouse records, one incident occurred on July 7th of 2022 and the second indictment stated the incident occurred on August 8th of 2016.</p>



<p>Sledge is being held in the Colbert County Jail awaiting transfer to Kilby Correctional Facility for processing.</p>

<p>Todd Alan Davis has served 2 years, 11 months of a 10-year sentence on three second-degree theft of property cases, including one in Lauderdale County. He has eight prior second-degree theft of property cases, one count of second-degree theft by deception, two counts of third-degree escape, and one count each of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, third-degree robbery, second-degree forgery and felony driving under the influence.<br>Jesse Clinton Ford has served 6 years, 6 months of a 20-year sentence on six convictions of first-degree theft of property in Colbert and Lauderdale counties. He has prior Colbert County convictions on third-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree escape, and one count of felony DUI.<br>James Matthew Locke has served 1 year, 3 months of a six-year sentence on convictions for two counts of unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle and one count of first-degree theft of property in Colbert County, and one count of possession of a controlled substance in Lauderdale County. He has two prior Colbert County convictions for breaking and entering a vehicle.<br>Parole was denied for Richard Joseph Patton.<br>Richard Joseph Patton has served 7 years, 5 months of a 20-year sentence on convictions of first-degree assault and second-degree robbery in Lauderdale County.</p>

<p>SHEFFIELD- Authorities have officially charged a Tuscumbia man in the early morning shooting death of Jonathan Eugene Nipper on Monday.</p>



<p>According to Sheffield Police Chief Ricky Terry, Mario Leshawn Richardson, 39, of 1408 East Decatur Street, Tuscumbia, has been charged with murder, which is a class A felony.</p>

<p>The shooting occurred around 12:30 am on Monday at a home on South Columbia.</p>



<p>&#8220;Mr. Nipper was shot three times in the back,&#8221; said Chief Terry.</p>



<p>Terry continued, &#8220;The two men had been arguing for years. As of right now, we are not certain as to what caused the recent escalation and what triggered the shooting of Mr. Nipper,&#8221;</p>



<p>According to Colbert County Coroner Justin Gasque, the body of Mr. Nipper has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensics in Huntsville for an autopsy. </p>



<p>Friends of the victim tell ShoalsInsider.com the two got into a physical altercation last year and the hostility between the two had been ongoing.</p>



<p>Richardson turned himself into the Colbert County Jail within a couple of hours of the shooting.</p>



<p>Chief Terry said Richardson is being held in the Colbert County Jail on a $300,000 bond. </p>

<p>SHEFFIELD- Authorities have made an arrest in the shooting death that occurred on New Year&#8217;s Day at a Sheffield housing project.</p>



<p>According to Sheffield Police Chief Ricky Terry, Jordan Terry Gardner was arrested Wednesday night in the shooting death of James Darrell McDaniel at the Manning Homes Housing Project.</p>

<p>Gardner and a female accomplice Francis Ann Marion reportedly were attempting to rob McDaniel when the robbery failed and McDaniel was shot.</p>



<p>McDaniel was flown by medflight to Huntsville Hospital where he was pronounced dead.</p>



<p>McDaniel was conscious before he was med flighted to Huntsville. Many people thought he would survive due to his alertness prior to the flight, as McDaniel was able to give police the name of the shooter.</p>



<p>Gardner is being held in the Sheffield City Jail until he is formally charged and transferred to the Colbert County Jail. </p>
