The Bible makes it clear that heaven keeps record books—Revelation 20:12: All the wicked dead will stand before God at the Great White Throne judgment, just before the renovation of earth, and will be judged according to everything that has been written about them in those books. Every word, thought, action, and intention of every human being is recorded in heaven. That is true of every human being, including us Christians. But, when we get born again we become new creatures in Christ. Old things have passed away, and all things are new; and all those new things are of God (2 Corinthians 5:17-18).

In Christ, all those things that were recorded about us when we were sinners are obviously erased. And that is GOOD NEWS! What else can, “old things have passed away” mean? Nevertheless, we Christians will be held accountable for our every intention, thought, word and action after we become Christians. In Romans 14:10, Paul stated clearly that every believer will have to stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ. Romans 14:12: “Each of us will give an account of him or herself to God.” Second Corinthians 5:10: “We [Christians] must all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ, that each one may receive [reward or loss] for the things done in the body [our bodies], according to what he [or she] has done, whether good or bad.” And now the third witness; 1 Corinthians 3:11-15: “No other [redemption] foundation can anyone lay [establish] than what has been laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now, whoever builds on that foundation gold, silver, precious stones, or wood, hay or stubble, each one’s work [as a Christian] will become manifest, for the Day [the day all believers will stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ] will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; for that fire will test each believer’s work, of what sort it is [acceptable or unacceptable]. If any person’s work which he or she has built on that foundation endures [passes that test], he or she will receive a reward. But, if the Christian’s work is burned up by the fire, he or she will suffer loss. [Not the loss of one’s salvation, for,] the Christian him or herself will be saved; yet so as through fire.” What the Judgment Seat of Christ reveals about each believer will determine the position (not condition) of each Christian in the renovated earth. And the overall lifestyle of each Christian in this life will determine what will be revealed at the Judgment Seat of Christ. I have been compelled to present this vital revelation about believers, before getting back to the Revelation account of the wicked—those people who remain unbelievers. If we will have to give account to God for every idle word we speak, then God must keep complete records on every human being (Matthew 12:36). Just as the position of us believers in that next realm will be determined by what has been recorded about us, the wicked dead will be judged by the things written in those books—the Book of Life being the most important book of all.
(Ron Craig is pastor, teacher and author of Christian books; and these articles.
In Revelation chapter 20, between Satan being locked up in the Abyss for a thousand years (verses 1-3) and afterwards his release, and immediate rebellion, and then his sudden descent into the Lake of Fire, where he will be tormented forever and ever (verses 7-10) is sandwiched the prophecy of the wrapping up of the first resurrection.

When it says “this is the first resurrection,” it certainly does not mean that was the totality of the first resurrection, but the end cap of it. Christ was the firstfruits of it, and next will be faithful believers, who will be raised up at Christ’s coming in the air to catch away the church (1 Corinthians 15:23). Revelation 11:11 also tells us that the two witnesses who are killed will be raised from the dead, and will ascend up to heaven. But, perhaps one of the largest groups to be resurrected will be all those who get born again during the Tribulation; many of whom will be beheaded for their accepting and clinging to Jesus Christ. They will refuse to worship the Antichrist, or take the mark of the beast, and therefore will be murdered for their faith (Revelation 20:4). And they will reign with Christ (and all the rest of us resurrected saints) for 1000 years.

Of course, all of us resurrected saints—of both Old and New Testaments—will continue to reign under Christ over the natural human beings who will go into the New Earth (Isaiah 65:17-25, 66:18-20, 21-24, Ezekiel 28:25-26, Zechariah 14:16-17, Matthew 22:30, 25:21, Luke 19:17). Very informative reading! Back to Revelation 20:5—The rest of the dead [people who died as sinners] will not live again [be resurrected and have indestructible bodies] until after the thousand years are finished [after the Millennium].

Then, verse six goes back to the first resurrection, saying, “Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power.” Well, what is the second death, and what kind of power was John talking about? Revelation 20:14 tells us that the Lake of Fire is that second death. And Jesus promised in Matthew 16:18 that the gates of hell [Hades] will not prevail over His church. The redemption wrought by Jesus Christ closed those gates to genuine Christians. And, Christ’s blood-purchased redemption is the only thing that will keep anyone out of hell. Of course, one has to believe the Gospel about the salvation Jesus wrought for us on the cross, and confess Christ as Savior. Revelation 20:11-15 reveals the ultimate fate of those who do not believe the Gospel message and receive the redemption that Jesus provided.

All the wicked dead will stand before God, Who will be sitting on a Great White Throne. They will do so reluctantly, for it says that they will try to flee their fate, but will not be able to do so. Unrepentant sinners will find no place to hide from the Judge. Books were opened! What kind of books? Record books! God does keep records. More will be said about all of that in our next session. (Ron Craig is pastor, teacher and author of Christian books; and these articles.
That next verse is Revelation 19:20. First, the Antichrist and his false prophet, who will deceive with his false miracles those who receive the mark of the beast, and those who worship that image the false prophet will have made of the beast—Antichrist—will be captured and cast alive into the Lake of Fire and Brimstone. Will angels handle that chore, or will Christ Himself do the honors? Consider Matthew 10:28.

After the Antichrist has been removed from the planet, his massive army will then be slaughtered by the Lord’s two-edged mouth-sword, and then the multitude of birds of prey will feast upon their remains; for, “Wherever the carcass is the vultures will be gathered together (Matthew 24:28).” Even though the Greek says eagles, some versions render it vultures. That cannot be speaking of the resurrection of the saints, for Christ is not a carcass, and we saints are not vultures. Besides, that Matthew passage refers to the coming of Christ to set up His kingdom, seven years after His saints have been caught up to meet the Lord in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:17). In this coming, Christ will stand on the Mount of Olives (Zechariah 14:4). Two phases of Christ’s coming.

What about the devil, who is the real culprit behind all of this madness? Revelation 20:1-3: An angel will descend from heaven to earth holding a key and a chain. The key will be to unlock the Abyss and then to lock it back. The chain will have Satan’s name on it, so to speak, for that angel will bind the devil with that chain and then throw him down into the lowest pit (Isaiah 14:15) and lock it. This passage must refer to both the Abyss and to the Lake of Fire. The Greek Abyss is also called the bottomless pit. Notice also that Jesus, the angel and John wanted us to be sure to understand just who will be confined to the Abyss for a whole thousand years. It will be the dragon, the Serpent of old, who is the devil, and Satan. Why will he be chained and confined to the Abyss for a thousand years? Having no contact with the human race, he will be unable to deceive the nations during that time. Humanity will have a thousand years of peace and will experience for the first time since the fall a theocracy. Righteousness will rule on the earth for a thousand years with no interruptions. No deception; no temptation; no sin. There being no sin, there will be no curse, no sickness, no poverty or pain. The human race has searched for such comforting conditions throughout its fallen career. But a thousand years is not forever. At the end of it, the devil must be released for a short period of time. Why must the devil be released? So that generation may be tested for its loyalty. No other explanation. That is at the heart of angelic and human history. Now you would think that no human being could be tempted to rebel against God after experiencing a thousand years of worldwide peace, health, and prosperity. During that time of universal God-rule, nobody will have to die. Some will live the whole thousand years. But, that generation will consist of the survivors of those nations that will come against Jerusalem under the Antichrist. Thus, they will not be born-again believers; at least at the first. We resurrected saints will rule under Jesus over them with the rod of iron. That generation will be unregenerate human beings, who will need to learn about God. God’s kingdom will need to be established in that generation. And His kingdom is established in individuals, not in whole communities. And, I have found that some people just do not like God—The only reason many will rebel with Satan that one last time. (Ron Craig is pastor, teacher and author of Christian books; and these articles. It is a sadistictheology that seeks to place the church in the middle of the Great Tribulation. It is a demonic concept that pain makes people better people.
Let me expose first the erroneous teaching that the Antichrist will originate in Russia. The idea obviously is derived from a misunderstanding of Ezekiel 38 and 39. Those two chapters indeed reveal that the Antichrist will descend from the north of Israel. So he will come down from Russia. However, neither those chapters nor any other Scripture passage teaches that Russia will be the birthplace of the Antichrist, or that he will be of Russian nationality. So never take a passage out of context and start speculating (either adding to it or taking away from it), thereby building a doctrine founded on speculation rather than on the Word of God. The Bible actually identifies what part of the planet the Antichrist will come from. It will be one of the Middle-Eastern nations. How do I know so? By studying Scripture rather than speculating from newspaper clippings! Look at Daniel 2:31-45. Is that too many verses to read to gain Bible end-time truth? Learning Bible truth requires study.

The Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar saw in a dream a giant humanlike statue made of various metals; and in the end-times, clay mixed with iron. That metal statue represented human history from Daniel’s day to the end of this evil age, when God will set up the eternal form of His Kingdom.

Those various metals represented four great empires that would rule the earth from Daniel’s day to the end of this age: Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome. The iron legs pictured the Roman Empire and its influence in man’s history to the end. The legs represented the splitting of the Roman Empire into its Eastern and Western divisions, whose influence will reach beyond our days. Now think! Two legs. Two feet. Five toes on each foot. History reveals that Rome was divided into two conflicting regions. Five toes will be on the foot of one leg, and five toes on the foot of the other. And by the way: Russia was never part of the Roman Empire. The Antichrist will come from either the Western division of the Old Roman Empire, or the Eastern division. Not Russia. And Daniel tells us which division the Antichrist comes from. More Scripture. Whew! More reading! Daniel chapter eight narrows down the vision to two of those beast-kingdoms, which are identified as Persia and Greece.

The first Grecian king would have to be Alexander the Great, who history tells us died in his 30s. He was the horn of the he-goat in Daniel chapter eight. At his death, his kingdom was divided into four smaller ones, and Daniel tells us that out of one of those four divisions will come a little horn—the Antichrist. Daniel 8:20-26 tells us that Daniel’s vision refers to the time of the end, when a man from one of the four divisions of the Grecian Empire will fulfill those Antichrist prophecies. Chapter eleven narrows it down even more to the king of the North (the Antichrist) and the king of the South, which must be Egypt—the southernmost of those four empire divisions. From the northern division of Alexander’s empire will come the Antichrist.

The book of Daniel is expanded in the book of Revelation. Revelation cannot be understood without a working knowledge of Daniel’s original revelation, and Daniel is incomplete without the apostle John’s completion of that vision in the book of Revelation. Moreover, both books must be taken together as one and the same revelation, having only ONE interpretation, although the book of Revelation does have extra details. Otherwise, people will get confused about end-time events. Of course, other pieces of that future puzzle reside in the book of Zechariah, three of the Gospels, and some of the apostle Paul’s epistles. Still, all the pieces fit the same end-time puzzle, and have only ONE interpretation. Theologians are generally confused about end-time events, as well as about many other things, but God’s Word is not confused about any events, past, present or future. The book of Daniel is primarily concerned with world events beginning in Daniel’s day, and continuing down to the last of the last days of this age. Then, the book of Revelation provides additional details of the same events right down through the Millennium and creation of the New Heavens and the New Earth.

In the cases of certain Bible books, either a word, phrase or sentence is key to a proper understanding of the book. Such keys are found in Daniel. One is in 8:17, where Gabriel informed Daniel that his vision referred to the time of the end. And in 9:24 the angel Gabriel told Daniel that seventy sevens (a total of 490 years) are determined FOR YOUR (Daniel’s) PEOPLE (Israel) AND YOUR CITY (Jerusalem). So Daniel’s visions concerned not the church, but the people of Israel—the Jews. Again in 10:14, Gabriel said that those prophesied events would happen to your (Daniel’s) people in the latter days. And remember too that your (Daniel’s) city (Jerusalem) will be the center of the last days activities. Not New York, Tokyo or Moscow. Avoid unbiblical interpretations of end-times.

In 12:9, the angel said the prophecies were sealed until the time of the end. In Revelation 22:10, John was told to not seal the prophecies, for the time had come for them to be activated. Thus, our biblical end-time study has begun.

Let us look at several Bible examples of dreams and visions, and determine whether each vision had multiple interpretations, or just one interpretation. Genesis chapter 40 tells us that two of Pharaoh’s close servants, his cupbearer, and his baker, had offended their master, and had been thrown into the prison where Joseph had been put in charge of the entire operation. While there, they both had a unique dream, and that in the same night. Not a coincidence! Then, the cupbearer told his dream to Joseph, and Joseph interpreted it. The essence of the dream was that the cupbearer would be restored to his former position in Pharaoh’s service. The cupbearer’s dream-interpretation being positive, the baker wanted Joseph to explain his dream as well: Of course, expecting the interpretation of his dream to be POSITIVE too. Not so, however. The baker was not restored, but executed. Joseph asked the cupbearer to remember him when he was restored to service, but he forgot about Joseph; until a couple of years later when Pharaoh himself had a couple of dreams which disturbed him greatly. After the king’s chief advisers proved unable to grasp the meaning of his night visions,

Joseph was brought before Pharaoh to hear and interpret those God-sent dreams. One dream involved cows and the other grain. But, the two dreams relayed one and the same message. There were soon to be seven years of plenty in Egypt, and then seven years of famine. Joseph being able to see those coming events, Pharaoh figured that he was the one most qualified to deal with them, and so promoted Joseph to second-in-command in Egypt.

The interpretation of the cupbearer’s dream did not apply to the baker, nor did the interpretation of the baker’s dream apply to the cupbearer.
John 12:47-50 shows us that Bible interpretation is neither necessary nor God-approved. Let us look closely at our Lord’s own words on that issue. “If any man hears My words, and believes them not, I judge him not [at this time]: For I came not [on this earth-visit] to judge the world, but to save the world. [However,] He who rejects Me and receives not My words has one that will judge him [eventually]: The words that I have spoken [while on earth], the same will judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken of Myself [given a private interpretation of what God might have meant]; but the Father Who sent Me gave Me a commandment, [exactly] what I should say, and [exactly] what I should speak [no room for even Christ’s private interpretation].

And, I know that His commandment [not some interpretation of His commandment] is life everlasting. So, whatever I speak, just as the Father has said to Me, that is what I speak.” Jesus made sure His words were exactly in line with His Father’s words. Why? Because God’s Word both contains and ministers everlasting life. No words other than God’s words can give life, for no other words contain life. Therefore, if it was necessary for even Jesus Christ to stick precisely with God’s original communication, and not add to or take away from His words, why do men think it is okay to privately interpret His Word? Condemnation upon all those who are so foolish as to tamper with the Inspired Word of God!

If 2 Peter 1:20-21 was valid in the first century, why would it not be valid today? Just because the devil has convinced sinners, and much of the church, that the world has changed, and therefore God must have changed as well, that does not make it so! Remember, the devil is a LIAR. That being so, then neither has the world nor the Word of God changed over time (except for technological advances in the world system). That means that private interpretations of Scripture are just as INVALID today as they were back in the first century. Therefore, God does not allow tampering with His Written Word today any more than He did at any time in the past. Thus, Deuteronomy 4:2 is just as current as is 2 Peter 1:20-21. “You must not add to nor take away from what God has commanded in His Word.” Bible interpretation always either adds to or takes away from the original inspired message from on high. Proverbs 30:5-6 even says that every word of God is PURE (thus needs no improvement), and that if we do add to His Word, we will be proven to be liars. So think. If the devil is a liar, and those who add to God’s Word are liars, that connects Bible interpreters to the devil, and exposes their interpretations as lies. Serious business! Do not get caught in that demonic trap.

Do those commentators really think they are smarter than the Holy Spirit? Did the Holy Spirit not know how to communicate God’s mind? However, there can be no counterfeit unless there exists the real thing counterfeiters attempt to counterfeit. Counterfeiters try to pass off their fake money as the real thing. There is no such thing as a thirty-three dollar bill. There are only 100s, 50s, 20s, 10s, 5s and 1s. Maybe some bigger bills. No one would accept a $33 bill in their change back from busting a $100. So, the church certainly does not need any false apostles or prophets. But, the modern church does need the real thing. Just hold off any doctrinal conclusions for now. Let us continue…

“That I may cut off occasion from those who desire an occasion; that, wherein they glory, they may be found even as we. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And, no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore, it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose final end will be according to their works (2 Corinthians 11:12-15).” In Paul’s day there were false apostles as well as genuine apostles. And even as late as A.D. 100, the church still recognized the need for real apostles, and was aware that there were false apostles trying to take over the church. Commending one congregation, Jesus said, “I know your works and labor and patience, and how you cannot bear those who are evil: And you have even tried [put to the test] those who say they are apostles, and are not, and have found them to be liars (Revelation 2:2).” Remember too, Ephesians 4:13 says that apostles and prophets were given to the church, and are to remain in the church UNTIL we all come into the unity of the faith and the full knowledge and stature of Christ Himself. Has never happened!

Moreover, several later chapters in Revelation mention prophets in connection with the last-days events. Those two witnesses in Revelation 11 are prophets. So, if apostles and prophets were prominent in the first century, and will be again in the last days of this age, then why should we not expect apostles and prophets to both exist, and even be prominent, in today’s church? God does not change. Jesus Christ does not change. The devil has not changed. The world’s needs today are little different from those of the human race back in the first century. Neither has the real Gospel changed. Therefore, what has changed? And, what cornerstone is the modern church actually built upon? Could it be that preachers who try to convince us that there are no genuine apostles in the church today are actually some of the devil’s false apostles? Pray about that!
