NEWS ALERT LAWRENCE COUNTY.

The Shoals Insider has been informed by the Alabama Marine Police a man has drowned in the Tennessee River below Wheeler Dam.

Update:

AUTHORITIES IDENTIFY DROWNING VICTIM.

Lawrence County Coroner Scott Norwood has identified the man who drowned Saturday afternoon in the Tennessee River at Wheeler Dam.

According to Norwood, Dennis Neal, 69, of Tennessee drowned on the Tennessee River near Wheeler Dam.

The Alabama Marine Police were on the scene assisting with the investigation. This according to Public Information Officer Trooper Brandon Bailey.

Tommy Arthur execution delayed by 2 hours

ATMORE-Death row inmate Tommy Arthur will live two more hours after the state agreed to a US Supreme Court request to delay the execution.

Details are unclear but after the highest court in the land requested a delay, state officials agreed to a two-hour long delay for Arthur, who was convicted three times by different juries in the death of Muscle Shoals resident Troy Wicker.

Florence Police Find Body

On Helton Drive, near The Singing River Bridge, a badly decomposed body was found.

Foul play is suspected because of the decomposition, but are not sure that is the case.

Son of Craig Morgan Missing on Tennessee River

Jerry Greer, the 19 year old son of country singer Craig Morgan has disappeared following an accident on the Tennessee River.

Search crews are operating in Humphreys County, which is west of Nashville.

Greer and another teenager were tubing near a local marina when there was an accident with a boat around 4pm Sunday. Greer never resurfaced. Both were wearing life jackets.

WANTED – The Florence Police Department and U.S. Marshal Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force is searching for Daniel Chance Odom, 37, of Florence.

Police say he is a suspect in a May 11th home invasion on Edgewood Drive. Investigators say he has arrest warrants for robbery and burglary.

More Petting Zoo Molestation Victims Come Forward

On Friday an employee of Jungle Safari Petting Zoo was arrested for sexual abuse of a child under 12.

Today Daryl V. Raymond Jr, 48, of Stockholm, Maine, appeared in court on two charges of sexual abuse. After his appearance more charges were added.

Police are now saying five victims have come forward with allegations.

Will Powell, Lauderdale County Assistant District Attorney fought against a bond for Raymond, saying he was a flight risk. A new hearing is set for Friday to determine if he is eligible for bail. As of now Raymond is in the detention center on $100,000 bond.

The Jungle Safari Petting Zoo, where the incident occurred

, has pulled up stakes and moved on to Birmingham. There have been several complaints by the USDA about cruelty to the animals in the show.

Murder at Alpine Village

For immediate release from Florence PD.

FLORENCE,AL: At approximately 2:50 am on May 1^st, 2016, Florence Police officers responded to Alpine Village Apartments on the report that a person had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers located Eric Lee Moore, a 33 year old white male from Florence, inside apartment 1218-A on the floor with multiple stab wounds. Moore was immediately transported by ambulance to ECM hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased. Bradley Ray Greenhill, a 22 year old white male, was identified as a person of interest. Greenhill and Moore had previously been roommates together. Greenhill was transported to police headquarters and after speaking with detectives has been charged with Murder for the stabbing death of Eric Moore.

Update on Police Officer Shooting

Sources say that the person who shot a Florence Police Officer turned the gun on himself and pulled the trigger. He died instantly.

The events began on Cox Creek Parkway. The officer was shot in the face by a man driving a black SUV. The shooter then fled to Wright Drive and ended up in the Chisholm HIlls Church of Christ parking lot. The SUV hit a storage container, thus coming to a stop. When police approached the vehicle officers say the driver shot himself. No officer opened fire in the church parking lot.

The name of the officer has not been released. He is said to be in good condition but he was shot in the face. The name of the shooter has not been released, either.

Breaking News: Florence Police Officer Shot, Shooter Dead

Florence Police have requested the assistance of the State Bureau of Investigation regarding an officer involved shooting that happened this morning at approximately 12:10am at the intersection of Cox Creek and Cloverdale Rd.

The Florence Officer was shot in the face and has been transported to Huntsville Hospital. The officer was able to return fire, but the suspect managed to flee the scene. Our officer is alert and talking.

Approximately 30 minutes after the initial shooting, officers located a vehicle matching the suspect’s vehicle description. A short pursuit ensued and ended in the parking lot of Chisholm Hills Church of Christ. Approaching officers heard a single gun shot from the vehicle. No officer fired their weapon at this second scene. The suspect was subsequently discovered to be deceased. The SBI has taken over the investigation. Names will be released after all appropriate notifications have been made.

Manhunt for Escaped Criminal in Florence

BREAKING NEWS: A Lauderdale County man arrested earlier this afternoon is on the run. Around mid-day, Lauderdale County sheriff’s investigators arrested 21-year-old Jack Avery Brown for theft of property and burglary.

Late this afternoon, Brown escaped custody while being treated at ECM Hospital in Florence. The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department and Florence Police are currently searching the western portion of the city for Brown. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, dark colored jogging pants and slip on shoes. If you see Jack Brown you are urged to call 9-1-1. Do not attempt to approach him.
