FLORENCE, Ala. — With three of the top five individual finishers, including medalist Forrest Knight, the University of North Alabama men’s golf team claimed the team championship at the 2016 TVA Community Credit Union Invitational at the Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club with an 11-stroke advantage over Columbus State.
UNA’s final round 285 helped extend a four-stroke advantage over the Cougars to 11 in the 14-team field.
Knight had rounds of 69, 69 and 67 for an 11-under par, 205 total to claim medalist honors with a six-stroke advantage over Gideon van der Vyver of Columbus State. UNA’s Austin Sparks was third at four-under par, 212, while Patrick Twesme was fifth at two-under-par, 214.
The North Alabama Gold team finished 10th with a 912 total, led by Aaron Jackson who tied for 19th individually at 222.
