FLORENCE, Ala. — University of North Alabama senior running back Lamonte Thompson of Florence has signed a free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League.

Thompson, a four-year starter for the Lions, is the second UNA player to sign with an NFL team this week, with defensive back Darvell Harris having already signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

Thompson was selected All-Gulf South Conference for four consecutive seasons at UNA. He was a second-team all-conference pick as a freshman and sophomore and a first-team selection as a junior and senior. He carried the ball 198 times for 1,107 yards and nine touchdowns this season. He became UNA’s first 1,000-yard rusher in a season since 1997 and ranks as the second leading rusher in school history with 3,419 career yards. He had 13 career 100-yard rushing games, including five during the 2015 season.
