FLORENCE – University of North Alabama head men’s basketball coach Bobby Champagne has announced the addition of Damion Ottman to the program. After playing last season as a redshirt freshman at NCAA Division I Troy, the forward/poster player will have three years of eligibility at UNA.

“Damion adds size, athleticism and versatility to our lineup,” said Champagne, who will begin his 14th season at the helm of the UNA program. “He can stretch the defense with his outside shooting and perimeter skills and has the ability to score in the paint as well and defend the post position.”

After redshirting the 2014-15 season at Troy, Ottman played in 14 games for the Trojans last year. He averaged 1.1 rebounds and .4 points per game in 4.4 minutes per contest.

He played at Northeast High School during his freshman season before finishing his career at Westside High School in Macon, Georgia. He was named to the Georgia Region 2 AAAA All-Region team in 2014 after averaging 11.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game and recording eight double-doubles during his senior campaign.

“Damion is an excellent student with with two years of practicing and playing at the Division I level,” added Champagne. That experience will be invaluable to him as he helps us compete for championships.”
