KILLEN-Authorities have their hands full today with a possible hostage situation at the Super 8 Motel on Hwy. 72 in Killen.
According to Lauderdale County Chief Deputy Richard Richey, there is at least one female in the room and possibly up to five people.
According to Richey, the gunman, who has warrants from Florida, tried to escape out the back door of the motel room this morning. This precipitated an exchange of gunfire between the gunman and police.
Prosecutors with the Lauderdale County District Attorney’s Office have obtained attempted murder warrants for the gunman.

Update: 3:38 pm The gunman is wanted in Florida on charges of firing a missile or weapon into a dwelling or vehicle and four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Huntsville PD and Madison County Sheriff’s Department have arrived to assist in the standoff.
