Tuscumbia business owner and Florence woman die in head-on collision

MUSCLE SHOALS–(SHOALS INSIDER)– According to authorities, a Tuscumbia businessman and a Florence woman were killed Saturday night in a two-car collision.

Muscle Shoals police tell  the Insider, 50-year-old Charles Ingram, the owner of CMI Body Shop on Main Street in Tuscumbia, died from injuries sustained in a head-on collision with another vehicle.

56-year-old Tammy Zills Smith, who lived on Sweetwater Avenue in Florence, was also killed in the crash.

The wreck occurred around 8pm in the North-bound lane of Wilson Dam Avenue, near Jefferson Avenue, one block North of Larned Street.

Colbert County Coroner Carlton Utley pronounced the two individuals dead at the scene.

Ingram’s business is located across from the Colbert County Health Department.

Police are still investigating the exact nature of the crash.
