MONTGOMERY- The Associated Press is reporting another execution date has been set for Tommy Arthur, who was convicted in a murder for hire scheme in the early 80’s.

The Alabama Supreme Court has set November 3rd as Arthur’s new execution date.

Arthur has been in jail since March of 1983, in the 1982 murder-for-hire of Muscle Shoals businessman Troy Wicker.

Former Sheffield police chief Doug Aycock was instrumental in determining Wicker’s killer. Arthur reportedly had a large sum of money in his possession at the Decatur Work Release Center. This reportedly shed light on the payment Arthur received for the killing.

Wicker’s widow, Judy Wicker, served time for her role in the scheme.  The widow initially said a black man had broken in and killed her husband. A black afro wig was later found and Arthur allegedly wore the wig as a disguise.

The 74-year-old Arthur has been incarcerated for over 30 years.
