Dr. Mark McIlwain
SHEFFIELD-Mark McIlwain, an oral and Maxillofacial surgeon who practices in Sheffield, was recently elected to the Alabama Board of Dental Examiners or in simpler terms the state dental board.
Alabama allows for the statewide election of members as opposed to members being appointed by the governor.
The election ran through September and ended on October 1st.
McIlwain, who has practiced for over thirty years, graduated from UAB School of Dentistry in 1982. He was a family dentist for five years and went on to specialize in oral surgery. McIlwain graduated from Vanderbilt School of Medicine with a dual degree in oral and maxillofacial surgery and opened Oral and Facial Surgery of the Shoals in 1993.
McIlwain is also the team physician for the Deshler Tigers Varsity football team.
