Brothers in Greenhill shooting recovering from surgery, suspect found dead

GREENHILL-(SHOALS INSIDER)-Lauderdale county authorities tell the Shoals Insider 49-year-old, Charlie Monroe Woods, Sr. the man that was suspected of killing his wife, Elizabeth Janie Woods, and shooting his two sons, Casey and Charles Bentley, this morning has been found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in St. Joseph, Tennessee.

Police say Woods shot his family around 10 a.m., at the family residence at 2751 Lauderdale County Road 130.

Woods was reportedly found near a wooded area on New Mount Nebo Road in St. Joseph.

As of 5:03 p.m., Huntsville Hospital officials confirmed the two sons, who are in their 20’s, Casey and Charles Bentley are recovering from surgery.

Police still do not have a motive for the shooting and tell the Shoals Insider they will not really know what happened until they speak with the boys.

Lauderdale county authorities tell the Insider Woods has not been a problem in the past. Woods threatened other family members this morning by phone.
