Legendary rapper to speak at UNA

FLORENCE – Rapper and political activist Chuck D will speak at the University of North Alabama, Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m., to discuss “Rap, Race and Reality.”

Chuck D is the leader and co-founder of the legendary rap group Public Enemy, the author of two critically acclaimed books, a political activist, publisher, radio host and producer.

Director of University Residences, Dr. Kevin Jacques, said D’s presentation will be a unique opportunity for students, faculty, and staff, as well as the community.

“When looking at the opportunity to help educate our students outside the classroom, we thought Chuck D would provide an amazing opportunity to speak to students about current issues,” said Jacques. “How often do you get the chance to listen to and interact with a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member as well as one of the most influential individuals in the rap and hip-hop world,” he said.

The event will take place in Norton Auditorium on campus and is free and open to the public.
