Corey Aris Davis, 27

Corey Aris Davis, 27

From the Florence Police Department:

On June 3rd, 2016, the Florence Police Department responded to a rape in the area of Chisholm Road, north of County Road 30 (Church Road). The female victim stated that she was kidnapped by a male she met on the internet and was forced to complete sexual acts with the man over the course of several hours. Luckily the female was able to escape her capture and contacted police.

Following this incident, on June 18, Lauderdale County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a suspicious person call in the 4000 block of Chisholm Road. During that call they were informed that a male, dressed in reflective police clothing, had attempted to assault a female but the assault was averted after Sheriff Deputies arrived. The male subject fled the scene.

On June 21st, 2016, Lauderdale County Animal Control Officer Dwayne Oliver responded to a barking dog complaint near the dead end of County Road 289. Upon the ACO officer’s arrival he observed a white male acting suspicious and contacted St. Florian Police. Sgt. Jason Brewer and Chief Ralph Richey responded to the scene and observed the male who fled on foot. While chasing the man, the officers located a partially clothed female, bound, and laying in the basement of an abandoned house. The female stated that she had met a man on the internet and traveled to a house on Chisholm Road to meet the man. She stated that she was abducted at gun point and forced to complete sexual acts with the man over the course of several hours before being found by police.

Shortly after this incident a multijurisdictional task force was created to investigate this string of serial kidnappings and rapes. The task force was comprised of officers and deputies from the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, St. Florian Police Department, Florence Police Department, Lauderdale County Drug Task Force, and Lauderdale County District Attorney’s Office. Over the course of the following 10 days multiple search warrants were executed and evidence gathered leading us to today’s actions.

On Tuesday, a special called Grand Jury convened to hear the case prepared by the task force.

The result of this Grand Jury is the indictment of Corey Aris Davis, 27, who resides at 1039 County Road 42 (otherwise known as Danley Road).
