Officer Brian Berry
Florence police have released the name of the officer and the shooter in Sunday morning’s shooting.
The officer is Brian Berry. Police say he was shot in the face with a .45 caliber handgun by Matthew Hall McCravy, 22, of Florence.
After Berry was shot, McCravy is said to have led police in a chase which ended with a collision in the Chisholm Hills Church of Christ parking lot. As officers approached the car they heard a gunshot. McCravy is said to have took his own life with a self inflicted gunshot would to the head.
Berry is in Huntsville Hospital for treatment. Officials say he is recovering.
Special agents with the ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation are investigating the shooting.
