TUSCUMBIA- The Colbert County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed skeletal remains are that of missing subject Leon Tidwell.
Forensic results from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences have positively identified the body found in October, 2015 as that of missing male subject Leon Tidwell.

Mr. Tidwell was a 72-year-old man and was reported missing several months ago in early 2015. He was last seen in the Riverton Rose Trail area of Colbert County near Hayes Boat Landing. Search crews searched the area around Hayes landing but Tidwell was not located.

Mr. Tidwell was known to suffer from serious health issues including heart problems.

In October 2015 hunters found human remains in a wooded area off Riverton Rose Trail. This area was thought to have possibly been under water during the time of the original search, but water levels are decreased during winter months by TVA and hunters were in an area that was not accessible during the search.
