Auburn trees set on fire after LSU defeat, man in custody

AUBURN-Police have confirmed a 29-year-old man from Auburn is in custody and is suspected of intentionally setting fire to the trees at Toomer’s Corner.

The trees at Toomer’s Corner have long been a place of celebration before and after football games at the university.

Authorities say the man is not a student at Auburn University.

The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and is reportedly an LSU fan. Tensions were running high after an LSU touchdown was called back at the end of Saturday night’s game.

The investigation continues and more information will be released in the near future.
